Coupeville School District offers quality education programs and services
to over 1,100 students each year. The district covers the central
portion of Whidbey Island and includes one elementary, one middle school, and
one high school. The middle and high school share a campus, but are
located in separate facilities. Construction of a new high school is
scheduled to open the fall of 2007. Coupeville also offers the Cedar
Program, an alternative learning experience program supporting families
inclined toward home schooling. Coupeville's K-12 curriculum is
aligned with Washington State benchmarks and each year's instruction builds on
the pervious year. Though small, the district offers a well-rounded
selection of courses.
Strong student support programs cover special education, bilingual,
homeless, and reading and math needs. Our Learning Partner Program
provides tutoring and mentoring support to help students meet academic goals.
Learning partners of all ages provide over 4,000 hours of assistance each
year.
A diverse program of athletic, academic, club, and leadership activities
is available. Younger students participate in athletic activities
sponsored by lo cal community organizations such as Central Whidbey Youth
Athletic Association and Little League.
