The Oak Harbor School District serves 6,200 students on north Whidbey
Island in six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one
alternative high school. The district extends from Penn Cove to
Deception Pass and includes the Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island.
Oak Harbor School District offers a complete K-12 educational program
including career and technical education, special education, Advanced
Placement classes, gifted programs, and remedial programs. Oak Harbor
High School boys and girls compete in 12 sports at the AAAA level in the WESCO
athletic league.
Oak Harbor's test scores are above the state average. The district's
transportation department transport about 4,500 students daily. The food
service provides 4,000 meals daily. The district has a new middle school
and recently remodeled another middle school and five elementary schools.
Oak Harbor Schools have 1,800 networked computers for students and staff
to use, maintained by a full-time tech staff of six people.

is in its 65th year of operation. The 12 faculty members are state

accredited school is held in the lower lever of the Oak Harbor
Adventist Church. The school offers a full curriculum of
courses and monthly field trips in addition to Bible studies.

An outreach of the Oak Harbor School District, HomeConnection
provides a classroom setting to supplement home-based education.
Classes are held in the lower level of the school district
administration building, 350 S. Oak Harbor St., and range from
foreign language and music lessons to algebra and wood-working.
Class choices are driven by parent and student interest, and taught
by experts in that field. |

An alternative high school in the Oak Harbor school district,
Midway offers computer-based as well as classroom instruction. The
small school is designed for students who would benefit from small
class sizes, a closer working relationship with instructors and
increased independence for flexible scheduling. Students can
either attend Midway full time or attend as needed to complete
credits for graduation. |
