Greenbank is located on the
narrowest strip of Whidbey Island between the historic town of Coupeville,
and the bustling commercial area of Freeland. Greenbank is
considered Central Whidbey, because it is the same distance from Clinton to
Greenbank as it is from Greenbank to Oak Harbor. Greenbank is centered
around the Greenbank Store which is surrounded by the post office, real
estate office, fire station, and restaurant.
Greenbank is rich in history
with the the Greenbank Farms, Meerkerk Rhododendron Garden, Greenbank
Cellars winery, antique shops, Hancock Lake and Admiralty Inlet scenic
overlook. Greenbank Farms is a lovely example of South Whidbey activists
keeping valuable, historical open space. The consortium of Island
County, Port of Coupeville, and the Nature Conservancy in 1996 bought the
522 acre Greenbank Farm from Ste Michelle Winery.
Greenbank Farms is the site of
year long activity with the Loganberry Festival, Highland Games, summer
farmer's market, and winter holiday market. The 1904 barn and surrounding
open space are used for weddings, and is home to a wine shop and cafe,
Whidbey Pies ~Don't miss a slice!
